A small suburb with a population of 7,750 as of 2011, Maidstone is located 8 kilometers west of Melbourne CBD. Only 20 minutes from the city centre, it belongs to the local government area of the City of Maribyrnong.

A quiet environment near the Maribyrnong River with most facilities close by awaits families and couples who want to live near the CBD. People living here are a mix of nationalities including the Italians and those from Vietnam.

Maidstone’s commmercial area is situated along Rosamond Road where the Highpoint Shopping Centre can be found. The shopping center which houses not only shops but restaurants, cinemas and a bowling area is a paradise for those who love to shop and those looking to enjoy some entertainment. The Footscray Market is also minutes away.

Age and child care facilities, a medical center and hospital are also available.

Housing in Maidstone is a mix of the weatherboard type and Californian bungalows. Period homes in the area date back to the 1920s.

There are also old factories converted into modern townhouses and new medium density townhouses.

Based on home median price, the suburb ranks 299 among the total 940 suburbs in Victoria and is in 269th place based on home median rent.
